    Technical Accounting Manager

    Our client, a growing services organization is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join its finance team. This role will be responsible for technical accounting, general ledger oversight, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting support across multiple locations and entities.

    This is a hands-on accounting leadership role suited for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to work collaboratively across the organization. The position will partner closely with the Controller and accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, timely close processes, and continued improvement of accounting procedures and controls.

    The ideal candidate is a technically strong accountant who enjoys being hands-on while also serving as a resource to the broader accounting team. This individual should be comfortable working through complex accounting issues, improving processes, and partnering with the Controller and operational leaders.

    Candidates transitioning from public accounting are encouraged to apply. Private industry accounting experience within a multi-entity & multi-location environment is a plus. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee and support technical accounting activities, including fixed assets, intercompany transactions, consolidations, and GAAP compliance.
    • Review and prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
    • Support the month-end and year-end close processes and assist with preparation of financial statements and related reporting.
    • Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls and identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes.
    • Provide accounting guidance and technical support to staff and senior accounting team members.
    • Assist with accounting activities across multiple locations and/or entities, including intercompany reporting and consolidation.
    • Support annual financial statement audits, tax preparation, and other compliance and reporting requirements.
    • Partner with the Controller on accounting policies, procedures, reporting, and other finance initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve systems, and implement best practices.
    • Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, Customer Service, and other cross-functional teams to resolve issues and support business objectives.
    • Provide mentorship and day-to-day guidance to accounting team members as needed.
    • Take on additional accounting and finance projects as the business evolves.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA required.
    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
    • Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
    • Experience with fixed assets, intercompany accounting, consolidations, and internal controls.
    • Prior public accounting experience preferred.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement accounting process improvements.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Comfortable working in a dynamic, changing environment and managing competing priorities
