Role Overview
Our client, a leading organization in the technology and delivery sector, is seeking a Technical Writer I to manage the complete content cycle for technical partner audiences. In this role, you will convert complex technical specifications into accessible guides, oversee docs-as-code pipelines, and collaborate with internal teams to foster the developer ecosystem. You will work directly with Product and Engineering stakeholders to shape API ergonomics and ensure transparency across self-service tools and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete content cycle for technical partner audiences.
- Convert complex technical specifications and product requirements into accessible guides, code examples, and integration workflows.
- Guarantee transparency for self-service tools, including authentication protocols and core delivery service suites.
- Uphold documentation integrity, structure, and release coordination.
- Oversee docs-as-code pipelines and versioning systems in lockstep with API deployment and retirement schedules.
- Implement style standards and utilize support data to guide document improvements across various regions and partner levels.
- Engage with internal stakeholders and foster the developer ecosystem.
- Consult with Product and Engineering early in the development cycle to shape API ergonomics and naming conventions.
- Coordinate with Business Development and Sales to resolve partner friction points while providing mentorship to other writers.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of technical writing experience, with at least 2 years focused on API/developer documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger, RESTful or RPC-style APIs, IDL-defined services) and turn them into clear, example-driven reference documentation.
- Experience owning documentation independently for a defined product/API surface from planning through publish with minimal day-to-day oversight.
- Comfortable working directly with engineers and Product Managers across multiple teams, including navigating ambiguity when specs are incomplete or in flux.
- Familiarity with docs-as-code tooling (Markdown, git-based review workflows, static site generators, or dedicated developer-portal platforms).
- Strong cross-functional communication able to translate between engineering precision and business-facing audiences (Business Development, Sales, Operations).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience documenting marketplace, delivery, fintech, or partner-integration APIs specifically (webhooks, OAuth-based partner onboarding, multi-tenant API tiers).
- Familiarity with API description/spec languages beyond OpenAPI (protobuf, Thrift IDL).
- Experience supporting a tiered partner program where documentation must vary by partner maturity or region.
- Background partnering with go-to-market functions (Business Development, Sales, Operations) on external-facing technical content.
