Position Summary

The Technician I performs entry-level technical, maintenance, installation, inspection, and troubleshooting duties under the direction of experienced technicians or supervisors. This position assists with maintaining equipment and systems, identifying basic problems, completing assigned work orders, and ensuring work is performed safely and accurately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections, maintenance, testing, and basic repairs of equipment and systems.
Assist senior technicians with troubleshooting and repair activities.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions, defects, or safety concerns.
Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules.
Install, replace, adjust, or repair basic equipment, components, and fixtures.
Use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other technical equipment as appropriate.
Read and follow work orders, technical instructions, manuals, and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance, and work performed.
Assist with diagnosing equipment and system issues.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
Follow company safety policies and applicable regulations.
Communicate maintenance or technical issues to supervisors and senior technicians.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required or preferred, depending on the employer.
Previous technical, maintenance, mechanical, facilities, or related experience preferred.
Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to learn technical procedures and equipment.
Comfortable using hand tools and basic power tools.
Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic work orders or documentation.
Strong attention to detail.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
Ability to lift and move equipment or materials as required.
Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.

Preferred Skills

Technical or vocational training.
Experience with preventative maintenance.
Experience reading technical manuals, diagrams, or schematics.
Basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC knowledge.
Prior experience working in a facilities or industrial environment.
