Job Title: Backend/API Developer
We are seeking an experienced Backend/API Developer with a strong focus on Java programming to join our team as a contractor. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing robust backend systems and APIs, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front end. This role requires a deep understanding of Java and its frameworks, as well as a commitment to delivering high quality software solutions.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using Java.
Collaborate with front end developers to integrate user facing elements with server side logic.
Implement security and data protection measures in backend systems.
Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.
Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing applications.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure best practices are followed.
Mandatory Skills:
Strong proficiency in Java programming (deal breaker skill).
Experience with RESTful API design and development.
Solid understanding of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of microservices architecture.
Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate.
Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Experience with unit testing and test driven development (TDD).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
10 15 years of experience in backend development, with a strong focus on Java.
Proven experience in developing and deploying APIs.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
