Youth Sports Team Director 

Position Overview 

The Youth Sports Team Director is responsible for the leadership, growth, and day-to-day operational management of multiple youth sports programs and teams across assigned markets. This role oversees Regional Managers, coordinates coaches and teams, manages field and facility permits, and ensures programs are operating efficiently, consistently, and profitably. 

The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with experience in youth sports, athletics, recreation, or a similar multi-site environment. This individual should be highly organized, proactive, entrepreneurial, and comfortable managing multiple sports, locations, teams, and stakeholders simultaneously. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and oversee multiple youth sports programs and teams, ensuring consistent execution, quality, player experience, and operational standards across all sports and locations. 

  • Manage and develop Regional Managers, providing direction, accountability, resources, and support while establishing clear performance expectations and goals. 

  • Manage all multi-sport Team activities, including team formations with Regional Managers, tournaments, events and other team functions, ensure adherence to business models, budgets and forecasts. 

  • Oversee field operations, including securing and managing permits, reservations, schedules, field allocations, facility relationships, and resolving scheduling or facility-related issues. 

  • Coordinate coaches, team directors, and operational staff, ensuring appropriate staffing, scheduling, communication, compliance, and performance across programs. 

  • Drive program growth and financial performance, monitoring team enrollment, registrations, revenue, expenses, staffing costs, and other key performance indicators while identifying opportunities to increase participation and profitability. 

  • Develop and implement scalable operational processes and standards that improve efficiency, communication, customer experience, and consistency across sports, teams, and markets. 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Serve as a key point of contact for coaches, Regional Managers, families, facilities, leagues, tournaments, and other sports partners. 

  • Oversee team formation, player registration, schedules, leagues, tournaments, practices, and game-day operations. 

  • Identify and resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively, particularly during active seasons and events. 

  • Establish strong relationships with municipalities, schools, parks departments, athletic facilities, leagues, and other community partners. 

  • Monitor program performance and provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership. 

  • Support the launch of new sports, programs, teams, and geographic markets as the organization expands. 

  • Ensure programs operate in accordance with company policies, safety standards, applicable regulations, and established youth sports best practices. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience in youth sports, athletics, recreation, sports management, or a related operational leadership role. 

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams, programs, sports, or locations. 

  • Experience managing managers or regional personnel and leading distributed teams. 

  • Strong knowledge of youth sports operations, including fields, permits, leagues, tournaments, scheduling, coaching, and team management. 

  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing environment. 

  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of budgets, revenue, expenses, and operational performance. 

  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and during peak sports seasons as needed.
