Job Title: Team Leader: Quality InspectionJob Description

The Team Leader: Quality Inspection ensures that molded automotive components consistently meet customer specifications and internal quality standards. This working lead role combines hands-on inspection of plastic injection molded parts with day-to-day leadership and support for newer team members, partnering closely with production to identify, communicate, and resolve quality issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of injection molded parts using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Verify that parts meet print specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements throughout the production process.
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Identify, document, and report defects such as flash, short shots, warping, sink marks, or contamination.
  • Complete inspection reports and quality documentation, and maintain accurate, organized records of all inspections performed.
  • Segregate non-conforming material and follow established escalation procedures to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities to address recurring or critical quality problems.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with production, supervision, and engineering teams regarding quality concerns and process improvements.
  • Act as a working lead by assisting newer team members on the floor, demonstrating proper inspection techniques, and helping them meet quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the inspection area in accordance with company policies.
  • Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies while promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Previous quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with quality inspection in an automotive or plastics manufacturing environment (automotive or plastics preferred).
  • Experience working in an injection molding environment is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift outside of scheduled break times.
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, prints, and work instructions.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills for inspection reports and quality records.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with production, supervision, and engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is highly preferred, particularly in a quality or manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with quality control and quality assurance processes in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with general manufacturing operations, including assembly and production workflows.
  • Experience performing visual inspections and quality checks in a high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application to print and part inspections.
  • Experience with final inspection processes and documentation requirements.
  • Comfort using microscopes, gages, and other precision inspection equipment as needed.
  • Ability to support general labor tasks related to inspection and material handling when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Work Environment

This role operates in a manufacturing environment focused on plastic injection molding for automotive components. Team members work on one of three shifts: 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., or 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. All shifts are eligible for a weekly attendance incentive. The position requires standing for most of the shift outside of break times and working around production equipment and inspection tools. The work involves frequent use of gauges, calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and other precision measuring instruments, as well as computers with Microsoft Office for documentation and communication. The inspection area must remain clean, organized, and safe, with adherence to all safety procedures and company policies.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46800.00 - $46800.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
