Description
Our client is seeking a hands-on 1st shift Manufacturing Team Leader to support daily production operations within a powder coating environment. This role will coordinate workflow, guide production employees, promote safety and quality standards, and help drive productivity improvements while supporting cross-functional manufacturing needs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily production activities, ensuring work is prioritized and completed safely, efficiently, and according to quality expectations.
- Assign employees, balance labor needs, and adjust workflows to support production goals.
- Monitor equipment, materials, and process performance to identify issues and minimize disruptions.
- Track production results, support continuous improvement efforts, and communicate shift priorities and updates.
- Provide direction, coaching, and support to production team members while encouraging teamwork and employee development.
- Promote cross-training across departments and support flexibility within manufacturing operations.
- Maintain a safe work environment by reinforcing safety procedures, PPE requirements, machine operating guidelines, and workplace organization standards.
- Conduct safety observations, identify potential hazards, and address unsafe conditions when necessary.
- Perform in-process quality checks, ensure required documentation is completed, and help resolve quality concerns, scrap, rework, and production issues.
- Serve as a communication link between production employees and leadership, escalating concerns and sharing important updates.
- Support a respectful, collaborative workplace culture and assist with resolving team concerns.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience with prior experience leading, coordinating, or directing the work of others.
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, quality processes, and production workflows.
- Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in powder coating or finishing operations.
- Background in sheet metal manufacturing or similar industrial environments.
- Previous experience as a Team Lead, Lead Operator, Supervisor, or similar production leadership role.
