POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: TEAM LEADER - PRODUCTION

DEPARTMENT: PRODUCTION

REPORTS TO: PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR-BLENDING

NATURE OF WORK

Responsible for providing leadership to production department teams of employees and lead operators.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Provide teams with information, tools, training and techniques that enable employees to perform their jobs consistently every day.

  2. Ensure that the plant is operating by set work instructions and SOP's.

  3. Provide daily feedback to team members on production, schedules, quality, and safety.

  4. Assure that all important information is transmitted to the next shift.

  5. Provide input to the Production Manager on production personnel performance and the cross-functionality of the team.

  6. Practice and promote safety, quality and sanitation by following plant policies, GMP's and procedures. Compliance with these policies, procedures and GMP's is required. In addition, you have an obligation to yourself, the company and your fellow employees to report any safety hazards observed including failure of others to follow safety and sanitation procedures.

  7. Assist with administrative activities such as:

Daily production and attendance report, audit Kronos time punches, notifications for out of specification batches, printing labels when needed, SAP work for short batches, clearing inventory deficits, checking HACCP books at middle and end of shift and inspect screener discharge samples, Ensure forklift checklists are being utilized, inventory items as needed, numerous daily SAP production system maintenance tasks, ensure all paperwork and batch sheets are being filled out correctly.

  1. Provide information and assistance in planning and implementing new projects.

  2. Coordinate temporary employees and ensure proper training is performed.

  3. Regular attendance is an essential function for this position.

  4. Compliance with all Company policies is required.

  5. Assist with training a backup to this position to cover absences.

  6. Other functions as required (non-essential functions).

  7. Responsible for adherence to all quality systems including, ISO, Food Safety, Food Defense and an understanding of IFF's Quality Policy and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must have a high school or equivalent education. Experience in the production department and SAP is preferred. Past Supervisory experience or demonstrated ability is a plus. Must be a good communicator with the ability to follow written as well as verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team as required. Incumbent must be willing to work overtime if needed.

SCOPE OF POSITION

This position reports directly to the Production Manager and has some supervisory responsibilities. Position will assist Production Manager in performance evaluations and corrective actions pertaining to production department employees. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Production Manager and makes independent decisions regarding the work of the team. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position operates in a production/plant environment 50% of the time. This position requires lifting up to 55 lbs. (25 kg). GMP training is required.
