DAY TREATMENT PLAY THERAPISTSUMMARYUnder general supervision, the Day Treatment Play Therapist provides therapeutic support to children and adolescents participating in the Miracle Houses Day Treatment Program. The therapist is responsible for facilitating therapeutic interventions that support emotional regulation, behavioral stabilization, social development, and successful participation within the academic and treatment environment.The Day Treatment Play Therapist will provide individual, group, family, and crisis-based therapeutic services as clinically indicated, with a strong focus on creating a supportive and structured therapeutic milieu. Services are designed to reduce behavioral disruption, improve coping skills, strengthen family functioning, and prevent higher levels of care or hospitalization.The therapist will work collaboratively with the clinical team, Day Treatment staff, schools, families, psychiatrists, and community providers to ensure continuity of care and implementation of individualized treatment goals.RESPONSIBILITIESFacilitate therapeutic groups within the Day Treatment ProgramProvide individual therapy sessions as clinically indicatedConduct family sessions and support family engagement in treatmentParticipate in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings and treatment planningProvide crisis intervention and behavioral de-escalation supportComplete clinical documentation including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and treatment plan reviewsSupport consumers with emotional regulation, coping skills, communication, and social interactionAssist with stabilization of consumers exhibiting behavioral or emotional dysregulationCollaborate with academic staff and treatment team regarding consumer progress and behavioral interventionsParticipate in discharge planning and transition supportAttend required trainings, workshops, supervision, and team meetingsMaintain compliance with all Medicaid, CARF, and agency documentation standardsProvide therapeutic support within the school, home, community, or Day Treatment setting as neededQUALIFICATIONSLicensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) under approved supervisionGraduate Intern currently enrolled in an accredited Social Work or Counseling program may be consideredExperience working with children and adolescents with behavioral health needs preferredExperience with crisis intervention, family systems, and group facilitation preferredKnowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral interventionsStrong communication, organization, and documentation skillsAbility to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment teamKnowledge of community resources and support systemsUnderstanding of cultural diversity and its impact on treatment and recoveryPROGRAM EXPECTATIONSThe Day Treatment Play Therapist is expected to play an active and impactful role in supporting consumers experiencing emotional and behavioral instability. The therapist will help maintain a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment while promoting progress toward treatment goals, academic participation, and community functioning.
