Position Description

Summary

The Department of Romance German and Slavic Studies at The George Washington University invites applications for one full-time renewable non-tenure accruing appointment at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor of Italian language to begin as early as fall 2026 with an initial three-year appointment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Will include but are not limited to:

  • directing the Italian language program
  • teaching six courses (33 per year)
  • overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of the curriculum and of assessment instruments.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or E.D. or equivalent degree in Italian language pedagogy, second language acquisition, or related field.

At least three years of experience teaching Italian language courses at the college or university level.

Native or near-native proficiency in both Italian and English.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching Italian language at multiple levels, as evidenced by evaluations, teaching assessments, letters of recommendation, etc.

Advertised Salary: $75,000
