Position Overview
We are seeking a caring, patient, and dependable
Teacher Aide / Paraprofessional to provide one-on-one support to a 1st grade student with autism in a school setting. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping the student engage successfully in classroom activities and develop greater independence.
Responsibilities
Provide individualized support to a 1st grade student with autism.
Assist with tableside instruction and classroom activities.
Support the student in following classroom routines and teacher directions.
Reinforce academic, behavioral, and social goals as directed by the classroom team.
Help the student participate appropriately in classroom activities and transitions.
Provide encouragement and redirection as needed.
Collaborate with the classroom teacher and special education staff.
Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
Follow student-specific support strategies and school policies.
Qualifications
Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school or special education setting.
Experience supporting students with autism is preferred.
Patient, compassionate, and dependable approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to follow directions and implement individualized student supports.
Paraprofessional certification or relevant education/experience is a plus.
