Job Summary

The Teacher - STEM is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.

All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: STEM Teacher Salary Schedule: State Based Plus Local Supplement Department: School Job Code: Reports to Principal Work Schedule: 190 days, 8 hours

Primary Function: Ability to provide instruction, assessing, and encouraging student progress. Ability to manage the learning environment, complying with state and district level regulations and policies.

Working Conditions: Physical Demands:

  • Classroom Environment: • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard • Hearing and speaking to exchange information • Seeing to read a variety of materials • Sitting for extended periods of time • Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materials

Qualifications:

  • A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission
  • Instructional Technology certification preferred
  • Elementary Education P-5 preferred
  • The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Delivers STEMSTEAM-oriented instruction through STEMSTEAM Challenges and Project- and Problem-Based Learning
  • Ensures instructional strategies and assessments align to STEMSTEAM curriculum goals and student learning objectives
  • Uses an integrated approach to technology fostering critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication among the core STEMSTEAM subjects
  • Manages the classroom lab environment through facilitation and inquiry-based learning practices
  • Identifies resources that will support STEMSTEAM implementation within each school served
  • Attends professional development related to STEMSTEAM programming
  • Works with school administrators and staff to assist in the organization, development, and coordination of school level STEMSTEAM events and activities
  • Follows the Paulding County School Districts job description for a classroom teacher
  • Complies with state and district level regulations and policies
  • Complies with the rules of the Professional Standards Commission code of ethics for educators
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal or immediate supervisor
