Cross Country Education is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) in Wolcott, NY to support a manageable caseload of two students in grades 6 and 9 through individualized instruction and consultation services.
Position Overview
- Provide individualized instruction and accommodations that promote accessibility, independence, and classroom participation.
- Evaluate students' functional vision needs and recommend appropriate accommodations, instructional strategies, and accessible learning materials.
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, families, and related service providers to promote student access to academic curriculum and school activities.
- Provide consultation across multiple school locations, monitor student progress, support implementation of accommodations, and ensure compliance with educational and accessibility requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Valid New York State certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) or Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired
- Knowledge of assistive technology, accessible instructional materials, and effective teaching strategies for students with visual impairments
