Responsibilities include:
- Providing itinerant vision-related education services to students with blindness or visual impairments
- Delivering individualized instruction, including Braille and orientation & mobility skills
- Assessing student needs and developing appropriate learning materials and accommodations
- Adapting curriculum, classroom environments, and materials to ensure accessibility
- Being an active IEP team member, writing goals, and monitoring progress
- Conducting functional vision and learning media assessments
- Planning and implementing lessons tailored to specific eye conditions
- Maintaining accurate records and submitting required reports to schools and families
- Acquiring and delivering adaptive equipment, books, and administering assessments with recommendations
- Collaborating with teachers, service providers, and families to support inclusion and student success
Qualifications:
- Required License/Certification: Must hold or be eligible for Georgia certification in accordance with Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) certification requirements for a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments.
