The Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) provides specialized educational support services for students. This role collaborates with educators, related service providers, and families to promote student success while complying with district, state, and federal requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess functional vision needs.
- Provide direct instructional services.
- Develop IEP goals.
- Teach Braille and assistive technology as appropriate.
- Collaborate with Orientation & Mobility Specialists.
- Participate in ARD meetings.
- Maintain student documentation.
- Support classroom accessibility.
- Consult with teachers and families.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Certifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree with Texas TVI certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Braille.
- Assistive technology knowledge.
- School-based TVI experience.
