Post-Secondary Teacher - Moderately Cognitively Impaired

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- A valid Michigan teacher's certificate with an endorsement in Cognitively Impaired (CI).
- Demonstrable knowledge of adolescent growth and development.
- Knowledge of behavior management.
- Knowledge of data gathering and charting techniques.
- Willingness to participate in all phases of the instructional program.
- Crisis Prevention Institute certification or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to provide leadership to paraprofessionals by communication, demonstration, and example.
- Ability to provide instruction to students on use and safety precautions of tools, machinery, basic repairs, and cleaning products.
- Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Plan curriculum for all assigned students, with assistance of other professional staff and administrator approval.
- Direct paraprofessionals responsible to the teacher in their classroom duties.
- Establish instructional and behavioral objectives for students; update objectives periodically to see that skills are being acquired. Send progress reports home quarterly.
- Analyze and chart skills of students.
- Establish behavior interventions in accordance with school policies and Center Programs Procedures and Guidelines on Behavior Management.
- Willingness to develop novel work site experiences on campus.
- Maintain records of all supplies, equipment, and projects.
- Order supplies and equipment for assigned classroom, with administrator approval.
- Other assignments as determined by future course of events and assigned by the building principal and/or his/her designee.
WORK YEAR: 186 Day Year-Round Calendar
START DATE: Fall 2026
WORK LOCATION: Lutz School for Work Experience
SALARY: Per Macomb Intermediate Federation of Teachers Master Agreement
Credit for previous teaching experience
