Position Title: Certified Teacher, eCampus Department: K-12 Curriculum Supervisor: eCampus Administration Term of Employment: Fall, spring, and summer terms Salary Classification: Stipend: Varies based on course student enrollment

Job Summary: Teachers will help students learn subject matter and skills in an on-line learning environment that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks, duties, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Instructs assigned on-line classes
  • Maintains course to ensure alignment with common core and current best online practices
  • Facilitates and modifies a program of study to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Maintains a positive and nurturing on-line environment that is developmentally appropriate and conducive to learning
  • Communicates extensively with students and parents and shows written or electronic evidence of that communication at the request of the supervisor
  • Maintains standards of on-line learning behavior and upholds district wide discipline and acceptable use policies
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of district curriculum goals
  • Strives to implement, through instruction and example, the districts philosophy of education
  • Assesses student accomplishments on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
  • Complies with all IEP, 504, & Special Education requirements as they pertain to enrolled students
  • Maintains complete, accurate records required by law, district policy, & administrative regulation
  • Assists the administration in implementation of rules and/or policies governing student conduct
  • Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the regular instructional day when such encounters are required or requested under reasonable terms and as directed in the eCampus Guidelines and Procedures
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of appropriate teaching strategies and methods
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold a current teaching certificate issued by the Arizona State Department of Education and be highly qualified in the course subject area
  • Must have taught the course at least one semester in a face-to-face environment
  • eCampus course must be offered as dual enrollment if in-ground course is also offered as dual enrollment
  • Must have taken Moodle I and II courses through Districts IMT Training Center or have comparable technology ability
  • Must have internet access at home to check course and email students
  • Must be a contracted PUSD Teacher
  • Required to work outside regular contract hours for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona drivers license
  • May be required to travel to perform work functions
