    Health Science/Nursing Fundamentals Job Description

    An RN is qualified to teach the other health science courses, however, to teach Nursing

    Fundamentals the RN teacher must meet specific requirements, which are listed below.

    1. Registered Nurse with an active current license, licensed to practice in any state.

    2. Minimum of two years' experience, (4,000 hrs. full time equivalent) as a registered nurse.

    3. Completed a course in teaching adults, OR experience in teaching adults, OR

    experience in supervising nurse aides.

    1. If provisionally certified, continue to work toward a clear teaching certificate.

    Responsibilities of Nursing Fundamentals Teacher

    Enroll as a participant in the Nurse Aide Training and Related Endorsement Courses

    Moodle PLC.

    1. Be knowledgeable of high school approved nurse aide training standards and ensure

    that your Nurse Aide Training Program(s) is/are compliant with these standards.

    1. Disseminate nurse aide training information as needed to other program faculty and to

    the local education administration (LEA).

    1. Ensure that an approved Registered Nurse teacher/has general oversight for Nursing

    Fundamentals Nurse Aide Class 100% of the course.

    1. Report program changes to the HSE Nurse Aide office immediately! Ex: teachers out on

    extended leave or leaving their teaching post, new instructor(s), new CTE Director, new

    principal, change in clinical site.

    5.Encourage students to follow through with NNAAP state competency testing. Facilitate

    students as they register online to take the NNAAP exam. Conduct mock NNAAP

    testing. Offer In-facility testing if possible.

    1. Issue a CERTIFICATE OF NURSE AIDE TRAINING COMPLETION to each student

    who completes nurse aide training successfully. Give the original to the student. File a

    copy.

    This teacher must serve as the Program Coordinator for the Nurse Aide I Training Program at

    Franklinton High School. Below are the requirements.

    Program Coordinator

    1. Registered Nurse with an active current license, licensed to practice in any state.

    2. Minimum of two years' experience, (4,000 hrs. full time equivalent) as a registered

    nurse

    1. At least one year experience (2,000 hrs. full time equivalent) in the provision of

    Long-Term Care facility services OR

    a. Experience supervising or teaching of students in a long-term care facility OR

    b. Work experience in a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital

    Skilled nursing facility is defined as "a nursing facility which is a distinct part of a

    hospital eligible for federal program certification under Medicare/Medicaid."

    Hospice and Chronic Care does not count as long-term care in a skilled nursing

    facility.

    Responsibilities of Program Coordinator

    Enroll as a participant in the Nurse Aide Training and Related Endorsement Courses

    Training Program (NAT) is compliant with NAT eligibility criteria.

    1. Ensure that an approved Registered Nurse teacher/has general oversight for Nursing

    Fundamentals Nurse Aide Class 100% of the course.

    1. Report program changes to the HSE Nurse Aide office immediately! Ex: teachers out on
