Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant (including substitutes and floaters) assists the Head Start Teacher in delivering the
classroom curriculum in accordance with Head Start regulations, licensing, and guidelines, and will use agency
standards to ensure that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a
trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency. Ensures the classroom is one in which children are aware
of expectations, provided with rules, maintain consistency; while building a positive relationship with students
which focuses on positive communication, appropriate physical proximity, respect, positive discipline, and
guidance. Maintain supervision of children at all times.



Qualifications
Education
Required


High School or better in Early Childhood Education.

Preferred

Associates or better in Early Childhood Education.

Experience
Required


. High School Diploma or GED plus a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential required; working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a major relative to early childhood education preferred.
4. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification. Required

In collaboration with others, the mission of Family Service is to provide quality programs and services, which effectively assist and strengthen individuals and families in our community. Family Service provides more than 5,000,000 meals each year through a USDA food program in 85 Nebraska counties. This program feeds almost 21,000 children in more than 1,312 licensed home child-care facilities. Family Service delivers the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program to 3,000 people in Lancaster County each month. Services include nutrition and breast feeding education as well as formula, milk and other staples.
