Teacher Assistant

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Teacher Assistant (TA) to join our educational team located within a youth correctional facility. As a TA, you will play an essential role in assisting teachers with daily tasks, general classroom supervision, day-to-day class functionality, and classroom management. In addition to helping, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times. 

The teacher assistant reports directly to the Principal and works under the guidance and supervision of the principal or her designee. TAs perform many organizational and classroom management tasks to support both teachers and students. 

·         Helping teachers with lesson preparation

·         Distributing and collecting learning materials

·         Working with students on a one-on-one basis or in small groups

·         Ensuring the wellbeing and safety of students at all times

·         Assisting students who need special accommodations

·         Assisting students with assignments or difficult concepts

·         Assisting students with special learning requirements, including disabilities or English Language Learner students

·         Collaborating with the teacher to identify students concerns and recommend solutions

·         Attending staff meetings

·         Observing state, school, and class rules and regulations
