As a Teacher Aide or Teacher Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping children with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn, grow, and build independence. Working alongside classroom teachers and other professionals, you'll provide hands-on support throughout the school day while creating a safe, positive, and encouraging environment where every child can succeed.

Position Details

Location: Hudson, NY

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers with organizing, preparing, and implementing daily learning activities.
  • Provide individualized support to children with daily activities such as toileting, eating, dressing, and other activities of daily living.
  • Supervise and assist children during recreational activities, classroom routines, and bus arrival and departure times.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with children while following individual behavior plans and support guidelines.
  • Assist with classroom activities based on each child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Prepare, organize, clean, and store classroom materials according to lesson plans and curriculum needs.
  • Help maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment and promptly report concerns to the teacher or management staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, clinicians, and other classroom staff to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Remain flexible and assist in other classrooms as needed to support daily supervision and program needs.
  • Assist with purchasing groceries and classroom supplies from local stores as requested.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
