    Description

    What You'll Do:

    Works under general direction & requires considerable knowledge of teacher education.

    • Instructs inmates with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders in assigned academic and/or pre-career-tech subjects, self-help, leisure time alternatives, physical education, socialization skills and environmental awareness
    • Assesses educational needs of inmates
    • Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
    • Provides instruction and individual assistance
    • Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
    • Maintains discipline and/or security
    • Counsels students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
    • Attends meetings as required
    • Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
    • Inventories and orders supplies and materials needed
    • Researches, selects & recommends new teaching materials
    • Attends in-service training sessions & workshops for professional development
    • Performs other duties as assigned
