    Tax Partner – Middle Market / Privately Held Businesses

    Our client, a Nationally Recognized Top Accounting & Consulting Firm, is seeking a growth-oriented Tax Partner to serve privately held and middle-market businesses. This Partner will inherit a substantial existing book of business while actively driving new revenue through market-facing business development efforts.

    This is a leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of client service excellence and revenue generation.

    Position Overview

    The Tax Partner will assume responsibility for a significant portfolio of middle-market clients while building and sustaining a strong pipeline of new business. Success in this role requires the ability to deepen relationships, proactively identify advisory opportunities, and consistently originate meaningful new revenue.

    This is not a maintain-only Partner seat — it requires both stewardship and expansion.

    Key Responsibilities

    Client Leadership & Retention

    • Oversee and serve as lead relationship partner for a substantial book of privately held and middle-market clients
    • Provide strategic tax planning and advisory across entity structures (Partnerships, S-Corps, C-Corps, Individuals)
    • Ensure exceptional client experience, retention, and expansion of services
    • Protect and grow inherited revenue streams in an environment where books naturally evolve

    Business Development & Market Presence

    • Consistently originate new revenue (partners average about $400K+ annually in new client origination)
    • Actively build and maintain referral networks (attorneys, bankers, PE groups, wealth advisors, etc.)
    • Identify market trends and develop targeted growth strategies

    • Cross-sell advisory and extended services across the firm

    Practice & Firm Leadership

    • Provide final technical oversight on complex engagements

    • Mentor and develop senior managers and directors

    • Drive engagement economics, risk management, and profitability

    • Contribute to firm strategy and practice growth initiatives

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    • 12+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience

    • Strong background serving privately held and middle-market businesses

    • Strong experience with multi-state & Partnership tax

    • CPA required

    • Demonstrated ability to originate and close new business

    • Proven track record of both client retention and revenue growth

    • Executive presence and credibility in the marketplace

    Desirable Traits:

    • Existing referral network or transferable book

    • Masters in Taxation or Accounting
