Tax Manager
Position Overview
Location: South Bend, in office full time
Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee the organization's corporate tax function and serve as its internal tax subject matter expert. This individual will work alongside the current tax leader during a comprehensive transition period before assuming responsibility for the department.
The role offers the opportunity to manage a broad range of complex tax matters in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while partnering with accounting, finance, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage federal and multi-state corporate income tax compliance.
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns and tax provisions.
- Research and interpret complex tax laws and regulations.
- Support tax planning initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Oversee sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax filings.
- Provide guidance on tax implications related to fixed assets and specialized financing activities.
- Partner with external auditors and tax advisors while maintaining strong internal technical expertise.
- Mentor and support a small tax team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive corporate tax experience.
- Strong background in multi-state corporate taxation.
- Experience with corporate tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax research.
- Experience preparing or reviewing tax provisions.
- Ability to independently research and resolve complex tax issues.
- Banking, financial services, manufacturing, equipment leasing, or public accounting experience is highly desirable.
