Job Title: Tax Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Hybrid after onboarding)
Compensation: $100,000-$150,000+ DOE

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join a rapidly growing professional services firm supporting high-net-worth individuals, businesses, trusts, and related entities.

This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys a combination of technical tax work, client advisory responsibilities, leadership, and mentorship. The Tax Manager will oversee tax engagements, review complex returns, provide strategic tax guidance, and help develop the next generation of tax professionals within the firm.

Core Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Review

* Review complex federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates
* Oversee preparation and review of Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120S, and 1120
* Ensure timely, accurate completion of all tax engagements and deadlines
* Review work performed by tax staff and provide technical guidance and feedback
* Monitor changing tax laws and ensure compliance across all client engagements

Tax Planning & Advisory

* Provide tax planning strategies for individuals and businesses
* Perform tax research on complex federal and state tax matters
* Identify opportunities for tax savings and planning initiatives
* Assist clients with tax-related questions and ongoing advisory needs
* Participate in strategic discussions regarding business structures, transactions, and tax implications

Client Relationship Management

* Serve as a trusted advisor for assigned clients
* Maintain proactive communication regarding deadlines, deliverables, and tax planning opportunities
* Develop strong long-term client relationships
* Present technical information clearly to clients and business owners
* Assist with client retention and growth initiatives

Leadership & Staff Development

* Mentor, train, and develop tax associates and senior staff
* Provide regular feedback and coaching
* Assist with onboarding and training new employees
* Support continuing education and technical development within the tax department
* Help foster a collaborative and positive team culture

Practice Improvement

* Identify process improvement opportunities within the tax department
* Assist with implementation of best practices and workflow efficiencies
* Participate in firm initiatives and strategic growth projects
* Help improve department procedures and documentation

Required Qualifications

* CPA required
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* 8+ years of progressive tax experience
* Strong experience reviewing complex tax returns
* Thorough understanding of federal and state income taxation
* Experience with individuals, pass-through entities, corporations, trusts, and estates
* Strong tax research capabilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to lead projects and manage multiple priorities independently

Preferred Experience

* Public accounting background
* Experience managing client relationships
* Prior leadership or supervisory experience
* Experience mentoring and developing staff
* Exposure to high-net-worth clients and closely held businesses
