Overview

A growing boutique CPA firm serving business owners, entrepreneurs, real estate investors and high-net-worth individuals is seeking an experienced Tax Manager in the northwest Chicago suburbs. You will independently manage tax engagements, review complex returns and build strong client relationships, working directly with firm leadership. Hybrid flexibility, reduced summer hours and no billable-hour quotas are offered.

Responsibilities

• Manage and review federal and multistate tax returns, primarily S corporations (1120-S), partnerships (1065) and individuals (1040)
• Oversee tax engagements from preparation through final review and delivery
• Identify and implement proactive tax planning strategies for business owners and high-net-worth individuals
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing year-round tax advice
• Collaborate with the accounting team to manage workflow, maintain quality and meet deadlines
• Work directly with firm leadership to improve processes, enhance client service and support growth

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required
• Minimum 7 years of public accounting tax experience
• At least 2 years of prior Tax Manager experience in public accounting
• Extensive experience reviewing 1120-S, 1065 and 1040 returns
• Strong knowledge of federal and multistate taxation
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Experience with CCH Axcess Tax or similar software preferred
