A well-established CPA firm providing tax, audit, and advisory services to closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and nonprofit organizations seeks a Tax Manager in Lincolnshire, IL. Full-Time, in-office, Monday-Friday. Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 base (depending on experience), plus additional earning potential tied to client responsibility.
Position Summary: The Tax Manager plays a critical leadership role within the firm's tax practice — reviewing complex returns, conducting tax research, and managing client relationships. Oversees tax engagements from start to finish while mentoring junior staff and working closely with firm leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review complex federal and multi-state tax returns, including 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 1041
- Perform advanced tax research and planning for closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and partnerships
- Manage and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
- Oversee tax engagements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
- Supervise, mentor, and review work prepared by junior tax professionals
- Collaborate with partners on complex tax matters and client strategies
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance as needed
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 6-10+ years of public accounting tax experience
- Active CPA license required
- Strong review experience across all major return types
- Demonstrated strength in tax research and planning
- Experience with federal and multi-state taxation
- Background working with closely held businesses and HNW clients
- Stable employment history; minimal job changes preferred
- Master's in Taxation considered a plus
