Our client, a rapidly growing CPA and advisory firm with multiple offices throughout the Western United States, is seeking a Tax Manager, CPA to join its team in Boise, Idaho (Hybrid).

The Opportunity

As a Tax Manager, you'll help lead client engagements while serving as a technical resource for both clients and internal team members.

You'll be responsible for complex tax planning and compliance engagements, reviewing work prepared by staff and senior accountants, managing client relationships, and helping ensure outstanding service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Planning & Advisory

  • Lead complex tax engagements for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and fiduciaries
  • Develop proactive tax strategies designed to help clients achieve their business and financial objectives
  • Research complex federal and state tax issues and provide practical recommendations
  • Identify planning opportunities that create measurable value for clients

Review & Quality Control

  • Review complex tax returns and related workpapers
  • Ensure technical accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of engagements
  • Monitor engagement profitability and workflow efficiency
  • Maintain the firm's high standards for client service and quality

Client Relationship Management

  • Meet regularly with existing and prospective clients
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on tax, business, and financial matters
  • Build long-term relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and strengthen client engagements

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop staff and senior accountants
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching
  • Assist with workflow management and project oversight
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Experience with individual, partnership, corporate, and fiduciary taxation
  • Strong technical tax research abilities
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing returns and managing engagements
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • High ownership mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Desire to work directly with both clients and team members
