Job Title: Tax Manager

Location: Austin, TX

Salary: $140,000-$170,000

Company Summary: An asset management firm is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing investment tax team. This individual will serve as a key technical resource responsible for supporting a range of investment-related tax matters across pooled investment vehicles and investment portfolios. Working closely with investment, finance, legal and operations teams, the Tax Manager will play a highly visible role in tax planning, compliance oversight, reporting, process improvement, and strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical tax guidance and analysis related to investment vehicles, portfolio transactions, capital gains management, distributions, and other investment-related activities, partnering closely with internal stakeholders
  • Oversee and review tax compliance, reporting, tax provisions, and regulatory filings prepared by third party providers while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of supporting calculations and documentation
  • Collaborate with investment, finance, operations, legal, and external service providers to assess the tax impact of business initiatives, support new product offerings, and address complex tax-related matters
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and documentation enhancements while supporting special projects, regulatory developments, and continuous improvement efforts across the investment tax function

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of investment tax experience within public accounting, asset management or investment management environments
  • Strong understanding of investment company taxation, including ETFs, mutual funds, distribution calculations, and the tax treatment of complex securities transactions
  • CPA or working towards a CPA, with exposure to tax provisions, compliance, financial reporting, and technical tax research
