About the Position
This position will be housed in the Tax Department in Coahoma County. Perform duties related to the Office of Reemployment Assistance including but not limited to the following: Performs investigations regarding employer compliance in unemployment tax reporting, explains the legal provisions of unemployment law to customers, audits employer's payrolls, secures delinquent reports and remittances, represents the Agency in status hearings, and markets MDES services. Performs garnishment investigations and collection of delinquent taxes. Assists other areas of the Tax unit as needed. Responsible for maintaining exceptional customer service with both external and internal users. Other duties as assigned by ORA Management. All potential applicants are required to pass an extensive background check and must have a valid drivers license as some travel may be required.
What youll need to be Successful
Extensive knowledge of UI tax program and the UI tax system, including state UI laws, regulations, written policies and departmental procedures. Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills; ability to understand and explain complex matters. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, effective communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of experience. For the Division of Medicaid, an Associates Degree and 3-5 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business, finance, auditing or other related field and three (3) years of experience related to the described job duties, two (2) years of which must include employment in a professional or other responsible capacity in the field of Employment Security, accounting, law enforcement of federal or state tax laws or labor and industrial relations.
