We are working with a nationally recognized accounting, tax, and advisory firm that serves sophisticated high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, family offices, closely held businesses, and private clients.

The firm is continuing to expand its Trust & Estate practice and is looking for an experienced Tax Director who can operate as both a senior technical resource and trusted advisor to clients.

This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who understands complex estate, gift, fiduciary, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters and wants meaningful involvement in client strategy, team development, and the continued growth of the practice.

Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director specializing in Trust & Estate taxation to provide senior-level technical leadership and advisory support to high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, executors, and other fiduciaries.

The role combines complex tax planning and compliance with client relationship management, team leadership, and practice development.

You will advise clients across estate, gift, fiduciary income, and generation-skipping transfer tax matters while collaborating closely with attorneys, wealth advisors, family offices, and other tax professionals.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior tax advisor to high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, executors, and fiduciaries
Advise clients on sophisticated estate, gift, trust, and wealth-transfer strategies including GRATs, IDGTs, SLATs, charitable structures, and succession planning
Oversee complex fiduciary, estate, and gift tax compliance including Forms 1041, 706, and 709
Research and interpret federal, state, and local tax laws affecting trusts, estates, gifts, and wealth-transfer strategies
Review complex tax returns, research memoranda, planning analyses, and client deliverables for technical accuracy
Lead client relationships and communicate complex tax concepts to clients and outside advisors
Identify planning opportunities and additional services for existing clients
Participate in proposals, presentations, networking, and business-development efforts
Lead, mentor, and develop staff and managers within the Trust & Estate practice
Oversee engagement planning, staffing, budgeting, workflow, and deadlines
Collaborate with attorneys, investment advisors, family offices, wealth managers, and internal tax teams
Monitor tax-law and regulatory developments and communicate their implications to clients and colleagues

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
Active CPA license or EA certification required
10+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience
Significant concentration in Trust & Estate taxation
Deep technical knowledge of fiduciary income tax, estate tax, gift tax, and generation-skipping transfer tax
Experience preparing or reviewing Forms 1041, 706, and 709
Demonstrated experience advising high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, and complex family structures
Strong tax research and technical writing capabilities
Experience managing client relationships and complex engagements
Demonstrated leadership and staff-development experience
Strong executive communication and client-facing skills
Ability to contribute to business development and practice growth
Ability to work in office at least three days per week
Current U.S. work authorization without current or future employer sponsorship
