ABOUT THE ROLE

A leading public accounting and advisory firm is seeking a Tax Director to provide strategic tax advisory, compliance oversight, and client relationship leadership within its Financial Services practice. This role focuses on serving investment management clients, including private equity funds, hedge funds, asset managers, and other alternative investment structures.

The Tax Director will serve as a trusted advisor to clients on complex tax matters while helping drive practice growth, mentoring tax professionals, and contributing to the firm's overall business development initiatives. This position is ideal for an experienced tax leader who enjoys a blend of technical consulting, client service, team leadership, and practice development.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a senior tax advisor to financial services clients, including investment funds and asset management organizations.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships while acting as a strategic resource on tax planning and compliance matters.
  • Provide guidance on partnership taxation, fund structuring, transaction planning, and tax-efficient investment strategies.
  • Oversee the review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns and related tax workpapers.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative developments impacting the financial services industry and communicate planning opportunities to clients.
  • Identify tax risks and provide solutions to mitigate exposure while maintaining compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals through technical training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Participate in business development initiatives, including networking, proposal development, and client presentations.
  • Collaborate with partners and firm leadership on strategic growth initiatives within the financial services practice.
  • Support cross-functional engagements involving audit, advisory, valuation, and transaction services teams.
  • Drive operational improvements and enhance service delivery across client engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA required;MST, JD, or LLM in Taxation preferred.
  • 10+ years of public accounting experience with significant exposure to financial services taxation.
  • Deep knowledge of partnership taxation, investment fund taxation, and alternative investment structures.
  • Experience advising private equity funds, hedge funds, asset managers, and related financial services clients.
  • Strong technical expertise in tax planning, compliance, and consulting services.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and serving as a trusted business advisor.
  • Proven leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing tax professionals.
  • Strong business development and practice growth experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This role can be based in Long Island, NYC, or South Florida.
