A well-established and growing organization is seeking a versatile Tax Compliance Specialist to join its tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded tax professional who enjoys working across multiple areas of taxation rather than being limited to one specialty.
The ideal candidate will be a true “Swiss Army knife” of tax — someone who can step into different areas of tax compliance, independently research and resolve issues, manage competing priorities, and support both day-to-day compliance and special projects.
Prepare, review, and manage federal income tax compliance, including corporate and partnership returns such as Forms 1120, 1120-S, and 1065.
Support state and local tax compliance, including income/franchise, sales and use, and property tax matters.
Assist with international tax compliance, including Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, 1118 and related GILTI/Subpart F calculations.
Support preparation and review of tax provisions and ASC 740 calculations.
Research and respond to federal, state, and local tax notices.
Assist with tax audits, information requests, and interactions with taxing authorities.
Perform tax research and technical analysis related to new and existing tax regulations.
Prepare and maintain tax accounting reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve tax processes through automation, technology, and workflow improvements.
Assist with tax planning, credits, incentives, and special tax projects as needed.
Work collaboratively with Accounting, Finance, and other internal departments to gather information and resolve tax-related issues.
Stay current on changes in tax legislation, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Take ownership of assigned projects and provide support across the tax function as business needs arise.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
Tax compliance experience in a corporate, public accounting, or similar environment.
Broad understanding of federal, state/local, and potentially international taxation.
Experience with corporate and/or partnership tax returns.
Knowledge of ASC 740 / tax provision accounting is highly preferred.
Strong tax research and analytical skills.
Ability to interpret tax regulations and apply them to real-world business situations.
Strong Excel skills and experience working with tax/accounting technology.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate is not necessarily someone who specializes in only one area of tax. Instead, we're looking for a well-rounded tax professional who can:
Wear multiple tax hats.
Jump between different tax issues and projects.
Research unfamiliar tax questions and determine the appropriate course of action.
Work independently with limited direction.
Take ownership of compliance deadlines.
Partner effectively with Accounting and Finance.
Identify problems and find practical solutions.
Adapt quickly as priorities change.
CPA, EA, or Master's in Taxation is a plus.
