Tax Associate - Individual Tax (1040)

Location: Novi, MI (Onsite)
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday (additional hours during tax season as needed)

Our client is a growing financial services organization seeking a Tax Associate to support a high-volume individual tax practice. This opportunity is open to candidates ranging from experienced tax preparers and Enrolled Agents to CPA candidates and seasoned tax professionals with extensive individual tax experience.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  
• Prepare individual 1040 tax returns, which will comprise approximately 80-90% of the role.
• 
  
• Review tax organizers and client documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• 
  
• Identify missing information and follow up as needed to obtain required tax documents.
• 
  
• Gather, organize, and maintain client tax records.
• 
  
• Calculate and estimate tax liabilities when appropriate.
• 
  
• Submit completed returns for review by senior tax professionals.
• 
  
• Assist with return reviews and tax planning activities based on experience level.
• 
  

Qualifications
Required

• 
  
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience preparing individual 1040 tax returns.
• 
  
• Strong knowledge of individual income tax regulations and tax preparation processes.
• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field, or equivalent tax experience.
• 
  
• Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of tax returns efficiently.
• 
  
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• 
  

Preferred

• 
  
• CPA designation or active CPA pursuit.
• 
  
• Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.
• 
  
• Experience with CCH Axcess and/or CCH Trust software.
• 
  
• Experience with tax planning and return review.
•
