    Black Diamond Group's tax department has a full-time position for Tax Analyst, US.

    This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home.

    Reporting to the General Manager, Tax, this role will partner with other teams across the US to contribute to strategic business initiatives and play a primary role in supporting compliance with US state and local taxes, as well as US personal property taxes.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure timely and accurate filing of sales and use tax returns across multiple state and local jurisdictions, including reconciling data from accounting systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Administer the exemption certificate process, including collection, validation, maintenance, and compliance with state-specific requirements.
    • Collect, review, analyze, and summarize property tax information for submission to outside tax consultants responsible for preparing property tax renditions, including reviewing draft personal property tax filings for accuracy and completeness.
    • Prepare 1099 reporting as required.
    • Monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts related to indirect and personal property taxes and preparation of supporting documentation.
    • Assist with managing sales tax registrations for new entities, business locations, and jurisdictions as nexus is established.
    • Research and respond to indirect tax questions from internal business partners, including analyzing transactions to ensure proper indirect tax treatment and compliance with applicable tax laws.
    • Support indirect and personal property tax audits by gathering documentation, responding to auditor requests, and assisting in the defense of company positions
    • Respond to other notices and general inquiries from state and local tax authorities
    • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance indirect tax compliance, efficiency, and accuracy, including assisting Tax Leadership with the continued development of tax technology and automation initiatives.
    • Monitor changes in sales and use tax laws, tax rates, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Other projects or duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 5-years relevant tax-related experience
    • Designation is preferred.
    • Experience in SAP Business One, Oracle Netsuite and/or TaxPrep is considered an asset
    • Strong computer and data analysis skills including intermediate Excel skills (using pivot tables, basic charts/formula)
    • High attention to detail and strong commitment to ensure deadlines are met
    • Strong analytical skills and takes initiative to solve problems
    • Ability to work independently while supporting the larger finance and accounting team
    • Works well under pressure with multiple concurrent deadlines
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of professional interaction with various levels of operations and external business partners
