    Description

Pacific West is looking for a hands-on, relationship-focused Talent Acquisition Specialist who understands the construction industry and knows that strong recruiting requires more than matching keywords to a résumé.

We are seeking someone who will take the time to evaluate the whole candidate—their experience, capabilities, work history, communication, motivation and potential fit with our team. Technology can support the process, but it cannot replace sound judgment, thoughtful conversations and a recruiter who understands what success looks like in the field.

This individual will work side-by-side with the Vice President of Human Resources to strengthen our recruiting structure, expand our sourcing strategy and build a reliable pipeline of qualified candidates across our operations.

    What You’ll Do

Manage the full recruitment process, from sourcing and initial screening through interviews, offers and pre-employment requirements.

Personally review and evaluate applicants based on their background, demonstrated competencies, career progression and alignment with the position.

Conduct thoughtful candidate screenings that go beyond scripted questions or automated recommendations.

Recruit for field, skilled-trade, operational, safety, technical and professional positions within the construction industry.

Partner closely with hiring managers to understand the work, required capabilities and characteristics of a successful candidate.

Develop sourcing strategies that reach both active and passive candidates.

Build ongoing candidate pipelines for high-volume and difficult-to-fill positions.

Establish relationships with trade schools, veterans’ organizations, workforce development programs, community groups and other recruiting partners.

Coordinate and participate in job fairs, hiring events and community outreach opportunities.

Help strengthen Pacific West’s employer brand and clearly communicate our career opportunities, culture, values and growth potential.

Maintain timely and consistent communication with candidates and hiring managers throughout the process.

Track recruiting activity, pipeline health, time-to-fill, candidate conversion, hiring outcomes and other key performance indicators.

Identify recruiting challenges, recommend solutions and follow through on execution.

Maintain organized, accurate and current candidate and requisition records.

Support the continued development of structured screening, interviewing and candidate evaluation practices.

    What We’re Looking For

Prior talent acquisition or recruiting experience within construction, infrastructure, environmental services, industrial services, skilled trades or a similar field-based industry.

A working understanding of construction roles, jobsite environments and the skills needed for field and operational positions.

Experience managing the full recruitment lifecycle.

Strong interviewing and candidate-assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate experience, competency, reliability and career fit.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organization, attention to detail and follow-through.

A sense of urgency and commitment to providing candidates and hiring managers with timely responses.

Sound judgment, curiosity and critical-thinking skills.

The ability to build relationships with candidates, field leaders, community partners and outside organizations.

Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multiple open positions.

A results-driven mindset and experience using recruiting metrics and KPIs to measure progress.

Willingness to attend job fairs, community events and recruiting activities as needed.

Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a strong plus.

    What Success Looks Like

Success in this position is not measured simply by the number of résumés submitted. It means developing a strong understanding of our business, presenting qualified candidates, building trust with hiring managers, maintaining candidate engagement and creating sustainable talent pipelines that support the company’s continued growth.

The right individual will be equally comfortable speaking with a heavy equipment operator, attending a trade-school event, partnering with a construction leader and reviewing recruiting results with senior leadership.

    Why Join Pacific West?

This is more than an opportunity to fill open positions. You will have a direct role in helping us reshape how we attract, evaluate and retain talent.

Working closely with the Vice President of Human Resources, you will help build a more thoughtful, disciplined and effective recruiting structure—one that combines strong processes and measurable results with genuine human connection and sound professional judgment.
