We are seeking our next Talent Acquisition Specialist who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for recruiting and onboarding exceptional talent to support the Amarillo Colleges mission. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring Amarillo College attracts individuals who align with our core values and can contribute to the colleges continued success. This position will ensure a smooth and efficient recruitment process for the candidate from start to finish.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Required: Associate's Degree.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Applicable work experience can substitute for educational requirements.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Two (2) years of experience in Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Recruiting Assistant, or Administrative Assistant.

Preferred: Three (3) years of experience in Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Recruiting Assistant, or Administrative Assistant.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs.
  • Coordinate job postings, screen resumes, schedule interviews, and facilitate candidate communication.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintain accurate records in HR systems, generate recruitment reports, and assist with compliance tracking.
  • Conduct background and reference checks on potential candidates.
  • Maintain candidate records and update applicant tracking systems.
  • Manage Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) paperwork for specific positions.
  • Create the new hire checklist for each candidate.
  • Cover front reception area for lunches and time off.
  • Create employee profiles in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Request, review and submit transcripts for potential new hires.
  • Conduct initial phone screens or interviews to assess candidates qualifications and cultural fit.
  • Ensure timely communication with candidates regarding interview details.
  • Generate reports and metrics to evaluate recruitment performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Continuously improve the candidate experience by addressing inquiries, providing feedback, and ensuring a positive impression of the organization.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with HRIS systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations throughout the recruitment process.
  • Ability to stay informed about legal changes and update recruitment practices accordingly.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and hiring process.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of recruitment strategies, job postings, resume screening, interviewing techniques, and candidate evaluation methods.
  • Ability to adjust to changing recruitment needs, unexpected challenges, and varying candidate responses while maintaining a positive and professional approach.
  • Capacity to build and maintain positive relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and other stakeholders, ensuring a smooth and respectful recruitment process.
  • Ability to prioritize the candidate experience, ensuring that all interactions reflect positively on the organization and enhance its reputation as an employer of choice.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, particularly in coordinating interviews, managing candidate communications, and covering reception duties.

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

Pay grade 10 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
