Department Summary:
The Tactical Air Dominance (TAD) Department (N151) is transforming warfighter operations by accelerating the fielding of advanced families of weapon systems through digital acquisition, advanced simulation and emulation, resilient communications, and autonomy experimentation. Our work advances the U.S. Air Force Air Superiority mission by enabling warfighters to execute current and emerging kill chains effectively in highly contested environments. We value deep technical and operational expertise, a mission-focused mindset, and the ability to connect advanced capability acquisition directly to warfighters, analysts, and end users.
The TAD Department is seeking a Strategic Advisor to lead outcomes, integration, and strategic work shaping across the TAD portfolio. The successful candidate will provide cross-program leadership across a diverse portfolio focused on four transformational sub-outcomes:
Achieving these cross-cutting outcomes requires sustained strategic engagement, portfolio integration, and senior-level relationship development to position MITRE for continued mission impact and strategic growth in the Dayton region. The Strategic Advisor will serve as a trusted advisor to Directorate-level leaders across the TAD portfolio while identifying and shaping opportunities that span programs and mission areas.
The role also requires close coordination with complementary efforts beyond TAD's organic work program, including C3BM, the F-35 Enterprise, USAF Firefly Digital Engineering initiatives, and external partners such as UDRI and other regional industry organizations. Through these engagements, the Strategic Advisor will strengthen integration across the broader mission ecosystem and help translate MITRE's technical and operational expertise into enduring mission outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The TAD Strategic Advisor will be accountable for delivering innovative, high-impact, and high-quality solutions to critical mission challenges. The role will collaborate across tasks, projects, departments, divisions, and MITRE Technology & Engineering (MTE) to shape and synchronize related work across multiple sponsors, ensuring complementary efforts are aligned toward shared mission outcomes.
Working closely with group leaders, chief engineers, and department managers, the Strategic Advisor will help attract, develop, and align top talent with the expertise needed to address TAD's most critical mission challenges. As a member of the leadership team, the Strategic Advisor will also help shape and evolve N151 Department and N150 Division strategy, identify emerging opportunities and initiatives, and lead activities that advance the organization's strategic direction and mission impact.
