    Program Summary

    The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army's mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.

    Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

    Job Summary

    The Heavy Equipment Operator performs a variety of general maintenance, repair, and support tasks related to facilities, equipment, and operational areas. This role also operates motor vehicles to transport personnel, tools, and materials as needed to support maintenance and logistics activities. The maintenance employee will be responsible for conducting basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs as assigned.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Perform general maintenance tasks including minor repairs to facilities, equipment, and infrastructure
    • Assist with preventive maintenance and upkeep of buildings, work sites, and equipment
    • Operate motor vehicles to transport materials, tools, equipment, and personnel
    • Load, unload, and move materials to support maintenance and logistics operations
    • Perform inspections of work areas to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
    • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in proper working condition
    • Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures
    • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and vehicle use as required
    • Support facility upkeep including cleaning, painting, and general labor tasks
    • Coordinate with supervisors and maintenance personnel on work assignments
    • Support inspections, audits, and government reviews as required

    Basic Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred
    • Typically 2-4 years of experience in general maintenance, facilities support, or related work
    • Valid driver's license and ability to operate government or commercial vehicles
    • Basic knowledge of maintenance trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical)
    • Ability to perform general labor and maintenance tasks in a safe and effective manner
    • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety standards
    • Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments
    • Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
    • U.S. citizenship required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
    • Experience operating light or medium‑duty trucks and utility vehicles
    • Familiarity with facility maintenance and repair processes in industrial environments
    • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or additional vehicle operation certifications (if applicable)
    • Prior government contracting experience

    Additional Information

    This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
