Systems Support Technician

Position Overview
The Systems Support Technician provides technical support across Western Wayne Schools. This role maintains classroom technology, end-user hardware, and campus endpoint infrastructure. In addition to desktop support, this position assists with key network and systems administration tasks to ensure reliable, secure, and continuous technology operations for all district facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Desktop & Endpoint Support
- Manage and respond to support requests submitted through the ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution, clear communication, and accurate documentation.
- Provide technical support for teachers, staff, and students.
- Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and repair district hardware, including Windows PCs, Chromebooks, interactive classroom displays, network printers, and audio/visual equipment.
- Utilize device management platforms (e.g., Google Admin Console, Microsoft Intune, MDM) to manage configurations, deploy software updates, and enforce security policies.
- Maintain an accurate hardware and software inventory, track assets, and manage device repairs.
Systems & Network Administration
- Administer user accounts, credentials, and access permissions in Entra ID (Azure AD), and Google Workspace for Education.
- Monitor and maintain local network infrastructure across buildings, including network switches, wireless access points, cabling, and UPS units.
- Assist with basic server maintenance, operating system patching, and system backup checks.
- Troubleshoot local connectivity, internet access, and VoIP phone system issues.
Classroom & Operational Support
- Assist teachers and staff with classroom software and learning tools.
- Support hardware setup for district testing, school events, board meetings, and administrative functions.
- Provide basic technical guidance and training to district staff to promote efficient use of school technology.
- Maintain and update content on the district and school websites, ensuring information is current, accessible, and accurate
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience). Minimum 2-4 years of IT support experience.
- Strong proficiency with Windows OS, ChromeOS, and basic troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and wireless network setup.
- Experience managing users, groups, and organizational units.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Valid Indiana driver's license and reliable transportation (travel between district buildings is required).
Preferred
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or relevant Microsoft/Google certifications.
- Previous IT experience within a K-12 public school district or educational setting.
- Experience with educational content filtering and classroom management software.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, move, and install technology equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces (e.g., wiring closets, under desks).
- Occasional work outside standard school hours for scheduled system maintenance or network updates.
