Description

Job ID: 115860

Location: Germantown, MD

Business Unit: DRS RADA Technologies

Schedule: 9/80

Shift: First

DRS RADA Technologies, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, is focused on proprietary radar solutions and legacy avionics systems supporting the defense industry globally. The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance.

The Role:

We are seeking a Systems Integration & Test Support Engineer II to provide hands-on technical support for the configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of radar systems and associated hardware, software, and network interfaces.

In this level II role, you will independently complete assigned support activities using established requirements, procedures, and engineering guidance. You will help maintain test readiness, investigate system issues, execute integration and verification tests, and document results. You will collaborate with experienced engineers, with direction provided on broader system designs, complex technical decisions, and integration strategy.

What You Will Do:

Support System Integration & Configuration

  • Assemble, connect, configure, and support hardware, software, and network components used in radar systems and engineering test environments.
  • Install approved software and firmware, apply configuration settings, and verify system readiness for integration and testing.
  • Configure and check system interfaces, communication links, network connections, and supporting equipment using established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, equipment identification, and software and firmware versions.

Execute Tests & Troubleshoot Issues

  • Perform assigned integration, functional, and verification tests against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support the development and improvement of test procedures, checklists, and troubleshooting instructions under engineering direction.
  • Collect and review test data, system logs, and observed behavior to identify discrepancies and support failure investigation.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and communication issues using a structured approach; resolve issues within assigned scope and escalate complex problems.
  • Document defects, corrective actions, and retest results to support issue resolution and closure.

Collaborate Across Engineering Teams

  • Work with systems, hardware, software, network, and test engineers to support integration and verification activities.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to engineering leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Share practical knowledge and assist other engineers, technicians, and support personnel as needed.
  • Support the organization's mission, values, and culture.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in technical support, systems integration, troubleshooting, or testing.
  • Hands-on experience with systems that combine hardware, software, and communication or network interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of basic networking concepts, system configuration, and interface troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements, drawings, interface documentation, and test procedures.
  • Ability to collect test data, maintain accurate records, and clearly document results and discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while recognizing when additional engineering guidance is needed.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment begins.
  • Experience with radar and/or RF systems; neither is required.
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, avionics, telecommunications, or other complex electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux environments, software installation, and firmware updates.
  • Experience with issue-tracking tools, configuration management, or requirements-based testing.

What This Role Is Not:

  • Not a software QA or software test position. The work also includes hardware and software testing in lab and in the field.
  • Not a test-execution-only position. The work also includes configuring systems, maintaining test readiness, investigating issues, and documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Not primarily a software development or network administration role. You will work with software and network interfaces, but the focus is integrating and troubleshooting the complete system.
  • Not a formal team-lead or people-management role. You may share knowledge and collaborate with engineers and technicians, but you will not be expected to direct their work.

What We Bring:

At DRS RADA Technologies, your work supports technologies that help protect military personnel, critical infrastructure, and communities around the world. You will join a mission-driven team developing advanced radar technology that supports system performance and real-world defense applications.

We offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; a company contribution to a health savings account; telemedicine; life and disability insurance; legal insurance; and a 401(k) savings plan. We invest in employee well-being, career growth, professional development, and skill enhancement, and offer a flexible 9/80 schedule, competitive vacation, health/emergency leave, paid parental leave, and community service hours.

The expected salary range for this position is $91,907.00 - $119,480.00 per year.
