Job Title: Sr Integration Engineer

Job Description

The Sr Integration Engineer leads complex integration efforts across hardware, software, networking, and platform components to deliver fully integrated mission systems. This role develops integration strategies, executes system builds, resolves multi-disciplinary technical issues, and ensures that all system elements work together seamlessly and correctly. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional engineering teams, maintains technical momentum, improves integration processes, and supports successful end-to-end system delivery in a dynamic, mission-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead subsystem and system-level integration planning and execution across hardware, software, networking, and platform components.
  • Develop and maintain integration strategies, build sequences, dependency maps, and technical approaches to guide integration activities.
  • Verify and troubleshoot hardware and software interfaces across system boundaries in partnership with Software, Hardware, Systems, Cyber, and Project Engineering teams.
  • Lead system build, installation, configuration, and baseline management using approved releases and controlled configurations.
  • Identify integration risks, blockers, missing dependencies, and sequencing issues, and drive them to closure in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot complex integration issues using logs, diagnostics, network analysis, scripting, and engineering debug tools.
  • Coordinate software versions, hardware revisions, configuration baselines, and required integration assets to ensure consistency across environments.
  • Support the development and improvement of integration environments, lab workflows, setup processes, and automation to increase efficiency and repeatability.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, interfaces, and integrated capabilities to ensure alignment with system objectives.
  • Coordinate issue tracking, configuration updates, change inputs, and release impacts associated with integration activities.
  • Lead cross-functional technical execution across Systems, Software, Hardware, Quality, Configuration Management, and Program teams.
  • Support readiness activities, technical demonstrations, and customer-facing integration events, including on-site integration with customer teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help strengthen integration discipline, technical rigor, and best practices across the team.
  • Contribute to virtualization and containerization efforts, working alongside subject matter experts to architect and execute integration solutions.
  • Engage in integration-level work on-site with customers within the first months of employment, supported by the existing team.
  • Spend significant time architecting integration approaches, planning execution, and working hands-on in lab environments to validate solutions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support successful mission systems integration.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems integration, systems engineering, hardware/software integration, or related technical roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading subsystem or system-level integration in a structured engineering environment.
  • Hands-on experience verifying and troubleshooting hardware/software interfaces such as Ethernet, serial, USB, CAN, or similar I/O interfaces.
  • Experience with system build processes, version coordination, baseline management, and defect or issue tracking tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across software, hardware, networking, and integrated systems.
  • Proven ability to work across engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues and maintain execution momentum.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical status, risks, and recommendations.
  • Experience with Linux-based environments for integration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies in support of system integration.
  • Experience with containerization technologies to deploy and manage integrated solutions.
  • Experience with networking concepts and tools to support integration and debugging.
  • Experience writing code or scripts to support integration, automation, and diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with cyber-focused integration considerations and secure configurations.
  • Experience with configuration management practices and tools.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance, with an active Secret clearance considered highly beneficial.
  • 7-20 years of relevant hands-on experience in integration, hardware, software, containerization, Linux, virtualization, scripting, networking, and configuration-focused work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with command and control (C2) systems or mission systems integration.
  • Familiarity with cyber protocols and secure network configurations.
  • Experience designing or implementing network configurations in complex, multi-system environments.
  • Experience with Java or scripting languages to support integration, automation, and test activities.
  • Existing active security clearance.
  • Experience integrating systems that may leverage artificial intelligence or advanced analytics.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks, follow through to completion, and proactively seek to understand complex problems.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and commitment to building a collaborative, solutions-focused culture.
  • Ability to identify problems clearly and propose practical, well-reasoned solutions.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment while maintaining technical rigor and composure.
  • Interest in contributing to next-generation mission systems integration across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.

Work Environment

The role operates primarily in a lab-based environment where you will work hands-on with integrated hardware, software, networking, and platform components. You will spend much of your time at a computer architecting integration approaches, executing builds, analyzing logs, and performing diagnostics, along with significant lab time to validate and refine integrated solutions. The position follows a hybrid schedule, typically three days on-site and two days remote each week, with flexibility to choose on-site days. Core hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with flexibility to start earlier or later around those core hours. The work includes periodic domestic travel, approximately once per quarter, for 1-3 weeks at a time to support integration activities at customer sites on Army bases such as Ft. Irwin, Ft. Hood, and Ft. Campbell. During these trips, you will work closely with customer teams to execute on-site integration, demonstrations, and readiness events. The environment emphasizes digital engineering, open systems, and modern mission systems integration, with a culture that values agility, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
