Description
This is an entry level technical/mechanical position working with pumps, motors, electrical controls, valves, lift stations and mechanical equipment found in a wastewater/water treatment facility.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Performs corrective, preventative, and rehabilitative maintenance on pumps, motors, lift stations and electrical equipment.
Maintains accurate record keeping of maintenance performed.
Inspects, diagnoses trouble, and effects repairs on all mechanical and electrical equipment. Completes vehicle maintenance and cleaning.
Welds and fabricates metal parts and structures of aluminum, stainless, and steel a plus.
Operates Heavy Equipments (i.e., boom truck, bucket truck, vacuum truck, backhoe, skid loader, front end loader, mini- excavator, etc.) a plus.
After the adequate training, must be able to pull regular scheduled standby requirements and scheduled alternate shift work.
May perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. 2 years electrical experience or training preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
Must possess a valid Florida Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.
Must have CDL permit before first day of employment.
Must obtain a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Drivers License within six months from date of hire or promotion.
Ability to obtain a Class "C" Certification in Wastewater Collection in accordance with department scheduling.

All contributions to the 401a Defined contribution plan are pre-tax and earnings grow tax-deferred. The City contributes 8% and employees contribute 3%. Training Programs
The City is committed to provide training programs for all departments and all positions. Risk Management conducts classes in Defensive Driving, Safety, and Insurance. With rare exceptions, classes are offered during working hours, and are open to all eligible employees.
