    Description

    Oracle Government, Defense & Intelligence has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer!

    • This position requires that the candidate possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Poly

    • This is a full time in office position requiring the candidate to live a commutable distance to Reston, VA

    What You''ll Do: Design, develop, and optimize high-performance, scalable on-premise systems and cloud networking solutions. Troubleshoot and debug complex distributed systems, ensuring seamless systems and cloud connectivity for our customers. Work across the full development lifecycle-design, implement, test, deploy, and monitor critical services. Continuously improve performance, security, and reliability in a cloud-native environment. Frequently develop scripts to automate non-traditional, complex tasks for business unit. Configure, and manage routing and switching infrastructure to support a highly available, scalable network environment. Automate network provisioning and configuration using scripting tools such as Python and Ansible to ensure operational efficiency and scalability.

    8-10 years of experience relevant to this position including 4 years of consulting experience. Prior team leadership or management experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Strong influencing and negotiation skills. Ability to travel as needed.

    Technical Skills:

    • 6+ years professional experience engineering solutions and supporting carrier grade, IP based ISP, Webscale, and data center network environments.

    • 6+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in cloud services or network-related development.

    • 6+ years of experience designing or provisioning virtual cloud networks

    • Advanced experience with internet routing protocols and concepts, including but not limited to IP, BGP, iBGP, EGP, MPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, IPSEC, & NAT and Linux networking stacks

    • Advanced experience in capacity management, traffic engineering, and performance optimization including network operating systems including Cisco IOS/NX-OS, PAN-OS, Arista EOS, etc.

    • Advanced knowledge of configuring network switches for throughput performance and redundancy

    • Advanced level knowledge of IP addressing, CIDR , and RFC 1918 strategy and implementation best practices and ability to perform protocol and packet analysis of traffic flows

    • Working understanding of Python, Ansible, Chef, Docker, JSON, REST and Yaml

    • Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum.

    • Experience operating in a Linux/Unix environment

    • Experience with distributed systems or hybrid cloud environments.

    • Experience with Python and Java - C/C++ or Bash scripting is a plus

    Soft Skills:

    • Demonstrated experience in applying critical thinking to challenges and tasks

    • Desire to learn and learn quickly

    • Quality deliverables under pressure/quick turnaround timelines - while able to adhere to overarching Corporate guidelines / parameters - ie. find unique ways to work within those guidelines to deliver

    • Keen understanding and respect for need to know

    • Demonstrated progressive increase in role specific responsibilities and associated complexities

    • Able to carry out technical coaching sessions, and helps junior members develop skills

    • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an agile, fast-moving team.
