The Surety Programs Group (SPG) supports government and private sector management of complex safety, security, and reliability programs for high consequence operations.  SPG delivers industry-leading, innovative, and value-added services such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention to help our clients understand and mitigate mission risks spanning physical, cyber, and human domains. SPG is hiring for a Safety Systems Engineer on the Safety Team to provide onsite support at SPA HQ in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer will support Navy SSP in providing vision, direction, and oversight of safety planning in support of Strategic Weapons Safety and Nuclear Weapons Safety. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated professional interested in providing technical, data-driven support combined with strategy-informed analysis of defense-related topics. Responsibilities include:

 

• Apply a passion for solving challenging and time-critical safety problems in both leadership and supporting roles.
• Participate in and lead analyses and assessments that integrate technical, operational, and programmatic aspects across various elements of the DoW.
• Support cross-functional, high-performance teams conducting quantitative and qualitative safety analysis to inform decision makers.
• Manage multiple tasks concurrently, often with constrained timelines.
• Direct engagement with external clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to work full-time, 5 days a week, at SPA HQ in Alexandria with occasional visits to Washington Navy Yard as needed.
• Active SECRET clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in STEM.
• 5+ years of related systems or safety engineering professional experience.
• Self-motivated individual with critical thinking, problem solving, time-management, and interpersonal skills; able to work well individually and as part of a team.

Desired Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in safety related field or in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience working with the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
• Experience with Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV), Surface Combatant Ships, Autonomous System Safety, Small Arms Weapon Safety, and/or MIL-STD-882.

Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Virginia, Pay Transparency Salary range: USD $120,000.00/Yr. - USD $140,000.00/Yr.
