PGS Worldwide is seeking a Systems Engineer – Requirements & Verification in Elkton, Maryland for an approximately 15-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support propulsion-system development through Critical Design Review (CDR), providing systems-engineering leadership across requirements, verification, technical risk, and multidisciplinary program execution. The engineer will support the lead Systems Engineer and must be capable of assuming broader technical leadership responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience performing systems engineering activities across requirements, design, integration, and/or test.
- Strong experience developing and managing clear, testable system requirements.
- Experience establishing and maintaining requirements traceability from stakeholder needs through design and verification.
- Experience with requirements decomposition across systems, subsystems, and engineering disciplines.
- Experience performing requirements change and impact analysis.
- Experience supporting or leading formal technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR.
- Experience developing verification and validation plans.
- Ability to map requirements to verification methods including test, analysis, inspection, and demonstration.
- Experience leading or supporting formal Risk Review Boards.
- Experience with program risk and opportunity management.
- Experience with requirements-management tools such as DOORS, Jama, JIRA, or comparable platforms.
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve requirements and design issues.
- Strong systems-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively with engineering teams, program leadership, customers, and other stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting U.S. Air Force, Navy, strategic deterrence, or related defense programs.
- Experience with solid rocket motors, propulsion systems, energetic systems, or related technologies.
- Experience with legacy-system redesign and existing requirements baselines.
- Hands-on manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with DoD contracting processes.
- Experience developing subsystem-level verification and validation plans.
- Experience developing test requirements and procedures and reviewing test data.
- Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and/or Process FMEA.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
- Experience with Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or comparable MBSE tools.
- Experience integrating MBSE models with requirements-management tools such as DOORS.
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or comparable PLM/configuration-management systems.
- Experience coordinating Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and other contract deliverables.
What You’ll Do
- Provide technical leadership and coordination across engineering disciplines, program management, and external stakeholders.
- Support development of an integrated propulsion-system solution through major program milestones.
- Develop and maintain requirements specifications, interface-control documents, V&V matrices, risk registers, and verification reports.
- Define and maintain requirements-decomposition strategies across subsystems and engineering disciplines.
- Perform requirements change-impact analysis based on configuration changes and contractual changes.
- Lead requirements and technical reviews supporting PDR and CDR.
- Evaluate requirements for completeness, consistency, feasibility, traceability, and testability.
- Lead technical Risk and Opportunity meetings.
- Develop verification plans and assign verification methods and responsible owners.
- Support development of work breakdown structures and technical schedules.
- Coordinate requirements, design, integration, verification, and technical-risk activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Support the lead Systems Engineer and assume broader systems-engineering leadership responsibilities when required.
- Build consensus among technical teams and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Work Schedule / Shift
- First shift, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- 9/80 work schedule.
- Full-time onsite in Elkton, Maryland.
- No travel expected.
- Telework is not available.
Pay
- $68.82 per hour.
- Target experience level: 8–15 years.
