Job Description Overview

The Microsoft 365 Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of all M365 applications across the enterprise. This role is responsible for a GCCH instance and a commercial instance including the infrastructure to have the environments communicate with each other and other corporate entities. This role ensures seamless integration, performance, and user experience of M365 apps including Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Exchange, Purview, and Office suite, while maintaining security and compliance standards. The role works under the direct supervision of IT management or senior IT staff.

• Lead engineering efforts for Microsoft 365 application deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management
• Serve as subject matter expert for M365 apps, providing guidance on best practices, governance, and user adoption strategies
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions using M365 capabilities
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for app deployment, updates, and monitoring
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to M365 apps performance, integration, and compatibility
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies, including data loss prevention, conditional access, and identity protection
• Strong Purview skills to support security and compliance requirements
• Monitor usage and performance metrics to optimize licensing and improve user experience
• Partner with IT support teams to provide Tier 3 escalation support and training
• Stay current with Microsoft roadmap and proactively recommend enhancements or changes
• Participate in change management and communication planning for M365-related initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements

• 3+ years of experience supporting and engineering Microsoft 365 applications in a large enterprise environment
• Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 architecture, administration, and integration
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation for M365 management
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Outlook/Exchange, Purview, and Office apps
• Knowledge of compliance features such as eDiscovery, retention policies, and audit logs
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive adoption of new technologies
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Desirable Criteria

• Microsoft certifications such as MS-100, MS-101, or equivalent
• Experience with Microsoft Graph API, Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate), and Intune
• Familiarity with hybrid environments and migration strategies from on-prem to cloud
• Familiarity with Exchange (on-prem) administration and support
• Experience with third-party M365 management and reporting tools
• Familiarity with Identity and Access Management, especially Entra ID/Azure Active Directory, Okta, and Microsoft Active Directory
