    Systems Engineer II

    Location: Pleasanton, CA (Onsite)

    Schedule: Monday-Friday | 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM (flexibility required based on business needs)

    We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer II to support the integration and development of advanced diagnostic technologies. This position offers the opportunity to work across multidisciplinary teams, helping bring together complex systems that include instrumentation, software, molecular diagnostics, and data processing solutions.

    The ideal candidate is a hands-on systems engineer with a passion for solving challenging technical problems, optimizing end-to-end workflows, and collaborating across engineering and scientific disciplines to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions.

    What Youll Do

    As a Systems Engineer II, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful integration, testing, and performance of next-generation diagnostic platforms by:

    • Supporting end-to-end system integration activities across instruments, software applications, workflows, and data processing pipelines.
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, assay development, and bioinformatics experts.
    • Contributing to system requirements development, defect tracking, and system-level testing efforts.
    • Designing and executing verification and validation (V&V) test plans to ensure requirements are fully covered and met.
    • Evaluating and analyzing test results for accuracy, compliance, and overall system performance.
    • Identifying, documenting, troubleshooting, and resolving system issues through structured root cause analysis.
    • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including system requirements, specifications, integration strategies, test protocols, and verification reports.
    • Driving workflow improvements, process simplification, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement activities to enhance efficiency and scalability.
    • Supporting the development and optimization of integrated diagnostic workflows involving sample preparation, library preparation, molecular detection technologies, and data analysis systems.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in systems engineering, system integration, product development, or related technical environments.
    • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting both software and instrument-related issues.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with the capability to work independently.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in a related engineering or scientific field.
    • Experience working with cloud-based platforms and systems.
    • Experience supporting the development of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products.
    • Familiarity with molecular diagnostic technologies such as qPCR, digital PCR, sequencing, or related workflows.
    • Programming or scripting experience in languages such as Python or Java.
    • Exposure to bioinformatics workflows, data pipelines, or diagnostic software systems.
