Epitec is seeking to support a leading global automotive manufacturer by hiring a Systems Engineer 3 to help develop and integrate next-generation 12V and 48V vehicle power supply architectures. This engineer will play a key role in designing low-voltage electrical systems that support advanced vehicle functionality, electrification initiatives, and future autonomous driving technologies. The role requires expertise in systems engineering, automotive electrical architecture, and ISO 26262 functional safety.

Title: Systems Engineer 3
Location: Dearborn, MI
W2 Contract: Long-Term
Work Schedule: Hybrid (4 Days Per Week Onsite)
Pay Range: Market Rate

Responsibilities
Lead adaptation of PowerNet architectures across vehicle programs and platform applications.
Design and develop 12V and 48V low-voltage power supply architectures.
Apply systems engineering methodologies to derive and manage vehicle-level electrical requirements.
Cascade requirements to power supply components and subsystems.
Support implementation of ISO 26262 functional safety processes.
Coordinate with controls engineering teams to ensure efficient power management integration.
Support supplier and component engineering activities related to power distribution systems.
Assist in vehicle-level integration of low-voltage electrical architectures.
Coordinate and align multiple engineering workstreams supporting power architecture development.
Utilize AI-enabled tools and methods to support engineering analysis and optimization activities.
Requirements
Required
Bachelor's Degree in:
Electrical Engineering
Electronics Engineering
Mechatronics Engineering
Automotive Engineering
Systems Engineering
Related Engineering Discipline
3+ years of experience with:
Automotive low-voltage power systems
12V and/or 48V architectures
Electrical system design, analysis, sizing, and verification
Strong understanding of:
Systems Engineering principles
Automotive electrical architecture
ISO 26262 Functional Safety
Experience supporting cross-functional engineering teams.
Ability to leverage AI tools for engineering analysis and problem solving.
Preferred
Master's Degree or PhD in related engineering field.
5+ years supporting complex vehicle electrical architectures.
Experience with:
Ford Engineering Design Environment (FEDE)
Jama
GPDS
Jira
MATLAB/Simulink experience.
Understanding of automotive communications systems.
Strong presentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
