$55 - $60 per hour contract with a conversion salary of $110K - $115K annually
Summary
The Systems Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure. This position bridges the gap between Systems Administration and Systems Architecture by solving complex technical challenges and helping deliver scalable, reliable technology solutions. The role focuses on optimizing infrastructure performance, maintaining system reliability, and supporting secure, well-architected environments. The ideal candidate has strong experience in systems and network infrastructure, solid analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams while managing multiple priorities.
Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and support enterprise IT systems including servers, storage, and network infrastructure
• Manage and support operational technology (OT) systems to ensure maximum uptime and reliability
• Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and stability
• Maintain and update documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures
• Assist in the development, testing, and deployment of new technologies and infrastructure solutions
• Ensure security and compliance standards are maintained across systems and infrastructure
• Collaborate with Systems Administrators to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technical staff when needed
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution
• Conduct system audits and generate reports on system health, capacity, and performance
• Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to support system performance and reliability
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• 3to 5 years of experience in systems administration or systems engineering
• Experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as Azure (strongly preferred), Hyper-V, VMware, or Azure Local
• Strong enterprise in Azure Cloud infrastructure, networking, and system performance monitoring
• Experience with Rubrick management platform
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
Bonus Skills
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or similar cloud certifications
• Experience supporting hybrid or cloud infrastructure environments
• Experience with infrastructure automation or scripting
• Familiarity with network infrastructure and security best practices
• Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical environments
